The work never ends

Well the work never ends. At least for some of us. We installed a new 160 amp alternator. It was a bear getting the old pullies off, but after that the install went a lot quicker.  We also installed the new starter solenoid. Got everything put back together and ........  it would not start.

A quick review of the engine schematics and some detective work and bingo. Starts like a charm. But no output from the alternator. Yikes. Time for drinks and lets pause till tomorrow.

Neil was a bit dehydrated. The heat and humidity really takes its toll. I am told that lime and salt is the bext remidy.

Stefan also arrived today with presents. Yes he got that on as baggage.

I added some solar panels and a BBQ last minute. No problem. Everyone at the airport had lots of laughs. Yes he even managed to get a taxi to the marina with that in the back.

Next day

A bit more time and effort and problem solved,  a factory setting on the alternator regulator was missing a zero. Fixed. All working great and time for a quick sail.

Finally it was time for a break. At least for me. Stefan was busy in the pit of despair replacing the water pump.

Meanwhile Neil was busy in Thor's locker of death removing two battery packs that were faulty.

I was busy supervising. Management is such hard work. I am so glad I retired.

Normally I would comment on how getting good help is so hard these days but this crew is stellar. hats off to the crew.

It was tough to open the gate of the dock to let Neil leave. But on to the new crew and the next project.

More to follow. Fair winds !
